Model overview
The R129 series was first introduced in 1989, succeeding the successful R107 series. The model offered here is one of the last R129s from 2001 and is powered by the reliable 3.2-litre V6 (M112). The SL delivers 224 hp and 315 Nm, reaching a top speed of 238 km/h.
History/Servicing
The vehicle has been in the possession of the current owner (a Mercedes-Benz engineer) since 2020 and has been maintained with great care and dedication, being used for regular drives in fine weather.
The fabric soft top is in very good condition and shows no tears. The gearbox was recently replaced and now shifts as smoothly as on the first day.
The prescribed maintenance work has, of course, been carried out regularly.
Features
The specification of the R129 in Brilliant Silver Metallic (paint code 744) leaves nothing to be desired. Passengers are seated in ergonomically shaped, electrically adjustable seats. On the driver’s side, there is also a memory function. Heated seats on both sides and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror complete the package. Leather and wood, including on the steering wheel and gear lever, create a high-quality interior ambience. As this is a late-model car, it features xenon headlights, which still provide excellent illumination today. Finally, there is a headlamp washer system and an intrusion and theft warning system (EDW).
