The Lamborghini Espada, produced between 1968 and 1978, is one of the most distinctive grand tourers of its era. Designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, the Espada was Lamborghini’s first true four-seater. With a focus on luxury, performance, and practicality, the Espada became a favorite among enthusiasts seeking both speed and comfort. Over its production run, the model evolved through three distinct series, with each introducing improvements in performance, design, and technology. The Series 2, introduced in 1970, featured refinements such as upgraded brakes and revised interior details. 

Exterior: The exterior of this 1970 Lamborghini 400GT Series 2 Espada is finished in the gorgeous color Verde Pallido, a light green metallic that looks as amazing in the sun as in the shade. This is the original color the car left the factory in back in 1970. The exterior of the car is in very good condition. It is a very original car and should not be mistaken for a fully restored one. All exterior chrome and stainless steel trim are in excellent condition. The paint is not perfect but still very good. Body lines are very sharp, and the fitting of all panels is excellent. A Lamborghini Espada this originally preserved is truly unique. Being a Series 2 car means it has the “Miura-style” 14-inch center-lock alloy wheels, which are fitted with the correct Pirelli Cinturato tires. The attention to detail, originality, and preservation of this car is very high. You could say that this car has undergone a preservative restoration. Underneath, the Espada also looks great. There is absolutely no rust, and the underside has been coated in a thin layer of rust protection from a very early stage.

Interior: Here, the Lamborghini Espada’s originality continues. The interior is finished in the amazing color Verde Scuro, a dark olive green that borders on dark brown. Inside, everything is original and in incredible condition, including the leather, headliner, and carpets, all of which are in excellent condition. This car has only covered 51,000 km since new, and the interior is strong proof of that. All small chrome trim pieces are also excellent. The leather on both the front and rear seats looks and feels like new. Of course, the original “snakebite” pattern is present on the leather seats, something difficult to replicate and often missing in restored interiors. The instrument cluster on the Series 2 Espada is, in my opinion, the best of any Espada. The large wood panel resembles a beautiful 1970s design furniture piece. Inside, we also find air conditioning, which has recently undergone major work to convert it for use with modern R134a gas. Now, the AC works perfectly and it is definitely a modern convenience you want in your classic Lamborghini. The interior of this car has also received a preservative restoration, with interior pieces removed, thoroughly cleaned, detailed, and treated to ensure longevity.

Engine and Mechanics: This is where the significant investment has been made in this Lamborghini Espada. The car underwent a full technical revision after a long period of inactivity. After the major work was completed, the car was taken back and forth to the workshop to resolve minor issues and ensure everything was properly tuned. During this technical revision, the engine was disassembled and rebuilt with new bearings, new cylinder sleeves, pistons, and more. The gearbox was removed, inspected, and fitted with new synchronizer rings, along with a new clutch. All chassis and handling components, including bushings and shocks, have been replaced. The brakes and brake booster have been restored. After this, extensive work was done to break in the new components and fine-tune everything. All this work has been conducted by a renowned Swedish workshop specializing in Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche.

Parts that have been upgraded and deviated from the original include an electronic power steering system from EZ, an upgraded electronic ignition system from NN, and a custom, less restrictive exhaust system. All these modifications have been done tastefully and in a way that harmonizes with the car’s originality while maintaining an OEM appearance. All of this mechanical work has cost around 150,000 euros. Today, the car runs beautifully and is a joy to drive. The V12 runs smoothly and has an absolutely amazing exhaust note.

History and Documentation: This Lamborghini Espada has an outstanding history and a very rare, low confirmed mileage of 51,000 km. The Espada was delivered new by Modena Cars in July 1970 to Mr. Vincencio Perez-Soto from New York. Despite being from New York, the car was only ever used in Switzerland. In 1976, he sold the car through a Swiss dealer to a Swedish customer. The second owner was the well-known entrepreneur Bo Karlsson from Ullared. When the car was imported, it had covered approximately 30,000 km. MOT papers show that the car was later sold to Thomas Kristensson in 1986 with a mileage of 40,157 km. Due to Thomas moving abroad, the car was left standing in Sweden for 28 years. In 2018, the car was acquired by its current owner with a mileage of 46,740 km. He began the process of bringing the car back to life and restoring it mechanically after its long hiatus. The car comes with a Lamborghini certificate, MOT papers proving its mileage, pictures from the latest mechanical restoration, and all invoices for recent work amounting to 150,000 euros between 2019 and 2025. This is an absolutely extraordinary Lamborghini Espada, with its unique color combination, only four owners, and a mileage of just 51,000 km.
