The Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina was Ferrari’s first upscaled production model. Obviously the numbers are not on a par with say a Ford with only 350 of 250 PF’s having been built. The model was presented at the 1958 Milan car show. The car impresses during the show with it slim, stretched lines and enormous amount of luxury besides a fair dollop of racing genes.
In all honesty we have to admit to a bit of drooling over this 250 GT Pinin Farina. The unbelievably tasteful two-tone paintwork or “Bicolore” in Italian of dark grey, Grigio Scuro, and black.
The first place this 250 was supplied to went through the German importer, Auto Becker in September 1959. That very same year the car is shipped out to Luigi Chinetti Motors in Connecticut, America. This early edition is fitted with the always very popular Tipo 128C engine with so-called “Inside-plug”. That is where the spark plugs are sited in the middle of the V-shaped banks of cylinders.
In the 80’s the Ferrari finds its way to England with a new owner, one Mr. Meek. The lucky owner is a proper enthusiast and may count winning the Ferrari Owners Club Concours in Brocket Hall amongst his achievements. As the years pass the Ferrari once more heads over the ocean to the USA in 1990 with its owner. In 2012 it makes the reverse journey back to Europe to be fully restored. The bare-metal restoration and mechanical rebuild being in the safe hands of an official Ferrari Service Centre. There are photos detailing the very professional and thorough process.

The 250 GT’s bodywork is in brilliant shape. Beautifully straight panelwork with perfect alignment and dark paintwork with a deep lustre have turned this car into the most stylish of neck-turners. The brightwork together with the Borrani chrome wire wheels contrast superbly with the dark finish.
Inside there is also much to celebrate as we encounter the atmosphere associated with only the most exclusive cars of its day. A colour-coded dashboard featuring stunning gauges and instruments as well as a large gorgeous slim wooden steering wheel are a sight for sore eyes. Combine all that with the biscuit coloured leather upholstery and we have surely been presented with one of the most beautiful colour combinations ever seen in this kind of vehicle.

Mechanically this breathtakingly gorgeous coupé is on a par with its appearance being A-1. The Ferrari is a great car on long journeys, the engine simply does its work with heaps of torque and power in supply, giving its occupants the privilege of being driven about in a rather exclusive mode of transport. This Ferrari’s road handling is dreamy and all is well with the world when this prancing horse stretches its legs in full gallop on long runs.

The car comes with lots of invoices relating to its service and maintenance dating back to the 1990’s as well as title documents, an original brochure, period Road & Track magazines and a parts catalogue.

How many of the 350 Ferrari 250 GT’s remain is unknown as quite a few were used as a base for an alternative bodywork. This incredibly lovely GT was happily spared and awaits its likewise lucky new owner.
