The Daimler XJ40 by Lynx is one of the most unusual and compelling reinterpretations of Jaguar's late‑eighties saloon architecture. Lynx, already known for its bespoke Eventer shooting brakes, applied the same craftsmanship and engineering imagination to the XJ40 platform, creating a car that blended Daimler luxury with coachbuilt individuality. Built in extremely small numbers, the Lynx‑modified Daimler stood apart through its tailored bodywork, refined detailing, and the sense of exclusivity that only a specialist coachbuilder could provide. The transformation typically involved fitting a bespoke body kit, giving the car a more purposeful stance while preserving the dignified character of the Daimler marque. Inside, Lynx retained the rich wood veneers, deep leather, and quiet opulence expected of a Double Six‑era Daimler cabin but added bespoke trim touches that emphasised its hand‑built nature. Mechanically, the XJ40 platform offered improved electronics, suspension geometry, and refinement over earlier Jaguars, making the Lynx version both distinctive and genuinely usable.

This 1990 Daimler XJ40 is believed to be one of only five that were converted by Lynx with their distinctive sill panels, bumpers and wheels. When the current owner purchased the car the sill panels and bumpers were in gold which gave the car a strange look, so he has had them repainted black to match the rest of the coachwork which has transformed the car. The interior is in cream leather with lashings of walnut veneered woodwork. This Daimler comes with good history up to 1999 when the odometer read 84,438 miles and has been used sparingly since, being in long term storage. Supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires August 2027, the handbook pack and a couple of repair manuals.
