History of the Model and This Example
The embodiment of the British roadster, this Austin Healey 3000 Mk III (BJ8) combines the power of the "Big Healey" with the refinement of its final evolution. A superbly presented example, benefiting from a quality restoration and sought-after upgrades.
Nicknamed the "Big Healey" thanks to its powerful 3.0-litre engine, the Austin Healey 3000 is an icon of 1960s motorsport. Produced from 1959 to 1967, it made a lasting impression with its outstanding rally record, driven by legendary names such as Caroll Shelby and Timo Makinen. Launched in 1963, the Mk III "BJ8" version represents the model's pinnacle: more powerful with its 150 ch, it is also more luxurious and comfortable, with proper wind-down windows, an easy-to-operate hood and a fine wood dashboard.
The example we are offering is a 1965 model, one of the most desirable versions. Of Californian origin, this vehicle benefited from a high-quality full restoration in the 1980s, preserving its authenticity while optimising reliability. Its two-tone livery, Black with Cream "Old English White" flanks, gives it rare elegance. Since its arrival in France, its history has been clear and documented, testifying to meticulous maintenance.
