Description

The 150 hp Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III (BJ8), introduced in 1964, featured a redesigned dashboard after 13 years, which had since been made of wood. A lockable glove compartment and a radio speaker integrated into the center console completed the transformation into a comfort convertible.[4] After a short time, the BJ8 received a revised rear suspension (Mk.III Phase 2). This raised the vehicle by 3 cm. The reason for this change was the insufficient ground clearance, which was criticized by many customers. Since the Austin-Healey 100, it had measured only approx. 90 mm beneath the muffler in the center of the vehicle, which frequently resulted in contact with the ground.[2] BMC (BMH since 1966) discontinued production of the 3000 in the autumn of 1967 due to the US emissions standards that came into force in 1968.[5] Approximately 80 percent of 3000 production went to the USA, so without this market, continuing the Austin-Healey 3000 would not have made economic sense. However, in March 1968, several weeks after production had officially ended, the very last Austin-Healey 3000 was manufactured in Abingdon for the English market from remaining parts stock.[6] Over eight years of production, 42,926 examples were built in three model generations.[2]
Excerpt from Wikipedia

The MK 3 offered here is in very good collector's condition and is being sold by the previous owner's family due to a bereavement. It is finished in Two Tone Bue/Silver and was very well and extensively restored some time ago.
The engine and all ancillary components are in technically very good condition, and it also appears that a complete overhaul was carried out here, although we currently have no documentation to confirm this.
The Healey passed the TÜV inspection without any problems and runs wonderfully. It has a stainless-steel exhaust system and features a very beautiful wooden steering wheel and wire wheels, including the spare wheel.

We are selling the Healey on behalf of a customer and kindly ask that an appointment be arranged for viewing and a test drive.
