Beschreibung

History

The Triumph TR6 is one of the most popular British cars. Introduced in 1969, it was the direct successor to the TR5/250 which left a taste of too little in the mouths of testers and customers. With the help of a miraculous restyling by Karmann, it will nevertheless prolong the pleasure until 1976, when it is replaced by the TR7.

The TRs are now powered by an in-line 6-cylinder engine, completely different from the previous 4-cylinder engine. 74.7 mm bore and 95 mm stroke, i.e. 2498 cm3, and a Lucas indirect fuel injection, still relatively uncommon at the time, for a power of 150 hp at 5500 rpm. Placed in the TR4's chassis, the whole unit is still relatively light and remains under 1100 kg when empty. In fact, this engine transforms the roadster into a "200 km/h" car while gaining a lot of pleasure thanks to the smoothness and the suggestive sound of the English in-line 6. As for the transmission, we find the 4-speed gearbox with its usual qualities and the classic overdrive on the last 3 gears remains optional. Accelerations appear close to those of a Porsche 911 E: less than 17 seconds in the 400 meters from a standing start and less than 31 seconds in the 1000 m. The 100 km/h are reached in a little less than 9 seconds. Overall performance is therefore much improved, even if it is at the expense of fuel consumption.

Description

Another English car coming from the American continent, this one from California, it is in France since 2016 and is in collection registration.

This beautiful Triumph has an exceptional color code with a black leather interior redone in 2017 as well as the carpets. The car is equipped with a Hard Top of the same color that we removed to put it back in an ETE configuration and a new soft top is to be mounted available in the trunk. The TR6 has been carefully maintained, nice paint, clean underbody, new upholstery. The chassis is sound and the rear cross member has been changed.

The TRIUMPH has just been serviced, ignition, carburetion, braking, starter, oil change, it is operational!

The car is lively and alert on the road and will enchant you with the sound of its 6 cylinders in line. We have a lot of pleasure to drive it because it is very attractive and runs very well; the engine and the gearbox run very well and show no signs of fatigue. The engine compartment is very clean, the lights and the bumpers are in excellent condition, no corrosion.

Our opinion

An excellent opportunity to acquire a first collector car with a modern equipment and a powerful engine. A rising value in a rare color code! To be seized !
