Series One 2002

The best 2002 we've seen in ages. A non-restored 2002 of this quality is amazing and near-impossible to find. A 2002 with just 37.000 kilometers. Not restored, very original, unique. Delivered new in the color 041 Atlantik Blau over a Black/Grey interior. The car was sold new in France and we've recently acquired this car in Belgium. The BMW 02 came to market in 1966 as the '1600'. In 1968 the 2,0 liter variant we know as the 2002 came to market and '02' was born. The first series from 1966-1970 are quite rare and collectible: short bumpers, no black strips on the sides and bumpers and the beautiful dashboard with chrome parts. This car started life in France and that's to be recognized by French decals in the engine bay, yellow reverse lights and the French plate engraved in all windows.

The body has never been welded and is wearing original bodypanels. Original frontfascia with stamped number, original front fenders and doors. All 5 wheels are stamped 2/70 - matching. The car has been repainted in the past to a high standard. The body is straight and shows great panelgaps. The chrome on the bumpers is fantastic, as new. So is the trim, the grilles, the kidney and the taillights. Every piece of trim looks as new, but isnt. The doorjambs are clean and the door bottoms shows excellent metal and paint. Not repaired, an excellent survivor.
Truly amazing is the car's undercarriage and wheel wells. The floors in their factory grey primer. The wheel wellls in the factory body color. All original, not welded, original spotwelds visible and original jackpoints present. A time capsule.

The interior is the best Series 1 interior i've encountered. All original and correct. The seats consist of their factory '70 black vinyl and grey cloth. We have replaced the foam padding for  good comfort and seating position. The carpetset is all original and clean, so is the clean, crisp headliner. Very straight black doorpanels and the correct 3-spoke steering wheel. The dashboard doesn't show any cracks, is non restored and lower chrome trim is in as new condition. A clean ashtray and the glovebox is clean and neat. As per series one it has the short center console, round shifter boot and original shiftknob. Even the chrome on the seat hinges is very nice.

The engine bay is just as original showing original metal and both german and french decals.
Notice the '70 date-code on the brake booster, very rare. The engine is the original, matching numbers 2,0L unit. The engine runs like a champ goes eager through the revs. We've done a major service to the engine, listed below. The original 4-speed gearbox shifts excellent, very tight and very silent. There is hardly any play on the shifter.

The trunk shows the original spare (matching 2/'70 date-code) with jack and tool. Furthermore all original sheetmetal and paint. The car sits on the factory '70 steel wheels with new tyres and hubcaps in very clean condition.

We have done a recent inspection to make it drive and function as it should.
An internal invoice coming at a total of 53 hours in the workshop + 22 hours of detailing - €12.000,- is present.
