Description

1985 | Santana Land Rover 88 – The Uncompromising Classic from Spain

In the mid-80s, the automotive world was obsessed with luxury and speed: BMW launched the M5, Porsche the 959. And meanwhile? Santana in Spain was building Land Rover models under license, with zero interest in glamour. No spoilers, no chrome. Just pure robustness and the certainty that this car will take you to places others can only dream of.

The Santana 88 is not a fashion statement. It’s a tool. Built for people who work, explore, or simply want the authentic off-road experience.

History – British DNA, Spanish Temperament
Since the 1950s, Santana had been an official Land Rover licensee. In Spain, rugged versions of the 88 were produced, technically close to the British originals but often adapted to local needs. Aluminum body? Of course. Sturdy ladder frame? Absolutely. Design? So angular that today’s SUVs look like soft-focus lifestyle toys by comparison.

And this example? A true time capsule:
✅ Original condition – no over-restoration, no modifications
✅ First paint – authentic rather than artificially new
✅ Spanish history – no salt, no winter, no rust
✅ Aluminum body – corrosion? Not a chance

Engineering – Simplicity That Lasts Forever
No screens, no electronic modules failing at the first sign of rain. Instead: mechanics that work – even after nearly 40 years. Start the engine, engage a gear, and go. This is driving without digital frills.

Why This Santana 88?
✔ Because it couldn’t be more honest – no hidden surprises
✔ Because it’s a piece of off-road history
✔ Because originality like this is hard to find

Conclusion – Not an SUV, but a Statement
A Santana Land Rover 88 is no city toy. It’s a tool, an adventure – and a symbol of an era when 4x4s were built for the wild, not the mall.

Perfect for collectors, purists, and anyone who wants more than a watered-down lifestyle SUV.
