The Porsche 928 was introduced in 1977 as a luxury GT car. It was the first Porsche with a V8 engine and the first with an automatic transmission. The design was revolutionary and the car had a top speed of 250 km/h. Sales of the 928 were initially slow, but improved in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1995, production ceased and the 928 was replaced by the Porsche 968. The 928 is now considered a true classic and has a loyal fan base. In 1978, the 928 won the title of "Car of the Year". The Porsche 928 was the only sports car ever to win this title!
We offer you a rare 1979 Porsche 928 manual transmission. The originally German-delivered car is finished in "Oakgrün metallic" opposite a combination of green vinyl & ''cork'' velour with stripes. The green body colour fell under the "special colours" category and was also only available from 78' to 80'. This is part of the reason for the rarity of this colour combination. It has four seats and offers an amazing amount of space. The rear passengers even have their own sun visor that blocks the sun through the rear window if they wanted to. Both the mirrors and windows are electrically operated. Front and rear fog lights are present, along with rear window heating and a rear window wiper.
Under the bonnet is a water-cooled 4.5L V8. This engine block is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Recently, this transmission was completely overhauled by the well-known 928 specialist from Den Dolder (NL). The invoice of more than € 4,000, with detailed specification of what has been done to it, is in the history folder. Among other things, the gearbox and torque tube have been overhauled. The V8 engine produces around 241hp at 5250 rpm, along with 350nm of torque at 3600 rpm, so 0-100km/h is covered in an impressive 6.6 seconds. At the back of the car is the original toolkit and ground switch. The spare wheel with original plastic cover are well preserved. Indeed, on most 928s, these cover plates have been lost.
