In 1962 the small British sports car manufacturer Morgan Motor Company decided to modify their mid-range Morgan +4 to win races, and wining races it did. The Super Sports was superior in every way superior to its +4 cousin. With a lightweight alloy ‘Lowline’ body and a race prepared 2.2 liter triumph engine with dual Weber carburetors, it was no wonder it won its class at the 62’ Le Mans 24 hours.

This particular car, affectionately known as ‘Old Mog” and “Lazarus Mog” by its owners over the course of history is a seasoned and multiple race winning veteran car prepared to race as a Super Sports low line in the late 70’s. Its journey led to Holland, where it was campaigned by 2 owners: Michael Lucassen, who raced it with some success in Dutch historic racing, and Peter Ecury: Who campaigned it across the continent, Russia and Algeria between 1980 and 1984. Winning the Benelux historic championship, and the European championship in the process. The car was then sold to its American custodian: Professor Michael Mulroney, who campaigned the car in various SCCA and SVRA races from 1985 to 2012.

Professor Mulroney was a talented writer and wrote many articles and essays about the car and his “Phlexed Spincter” (sic) race team. The amateur racer extracted every single ounce of fun and enjoyment out of the car, before selling it on to Machines with a Mission.

In 2017 and 2018 we completely stripped and rebuilt the car to Period FIA specs for participation in the 2018 edition of Le Mans Classic.  Modifications included the installation of a new all steel engine, new headers, new gearbox, super strong roll cage. Tillet seat a and a new FIA approved fuel tank. Since it’s rebuilt the car only raced at Le Mans in 2018, at Monza in 2019 and in a Masters race at Brands Hatch in 2022.

This great classic race car is probably the most cost efficient Le Mans Classic entry and can be driven in all other pre 66 FIA sanctioned events like Peter Auto Sixties Endurance, Masters, 6 hours of Spa-Francorchamps, Tour Auto, 100 Ore di Modena etc.
