Description

Maserati 3500 GT from 1961, carburettors, complete, complete bodywork restoration with chassis separated from the body. All parts come with the car and require restoration. The car has original Turin metal plates and registration certificate. First owner the famous Emilio Giletti: Emilio Giletti took part in 25 races between 1951 and 1955, racing mainly in Ferrari and Maserati cars. In 1953 the big opportunity came when Maserati decided to offer three young drivers the chance to drive their sports cars: Emilio was chosen together with Luigi Musso and Sergio Mantovani. With the Officine Alfieri Maserati team he achieved his greatest victory, taking first class prize and 6th place overall in the 1953 Mille Miglia on a Maserati A6GCS In this period he achieved some successes, including the non-championship victory in the 1952 Trofeo Sardo and the podium placing in the 1953 Targa Florio. Giletti raced only one Formula 1 race, at the 1953 Modena Grand Prix, but retired for a valve failure on his Maserati A6GCM. He also took part in the 1954 Gran Premio de la Republica Argentina, but then Maserati handed over the lead to Musso. MANUEL FANGIO'S FRIEND, Giletti declared in an interview: "At the Siracusa GP - he continued - I was faster by a second per lap. I did a complete lap in the middle of a curve that the Sicilians had renamed the ' Cimitero' Fangio wanted us to do a lap of the track on foot and for me to tell him at each point what gear I was in and where I braked. He was one of the few who was fast both on the circuit and on the road. A great connoisseur of mechanics, he tested four cars, then at the end of the day he said 'put that engine on this chassis'. And the others had the wagon. It happened to me in the Modena GP in F.2, so much so that the car stopped after a few laps. But in general wasn't jealous. In free practice in Monza, where I was a reserve, he explained to me how I had to tackle the Lesmo curve, which at that moment was full after the straight, at 230 km/h. "Go in decisively and put your wheels where I put them in." But my favorite terrain was definitely the roads of the Targa Florio, with mud and rain, or the Passo della Futa-Raticosa and Radicofani at the Mille Miglia, where there were risks due to the tires that were narrow and hard as wood. . It is no coincidence that in 1961 Fangio and Giletti owned two Maserati 3500 GTs
