The V8 Vantage 580X represents the ultimate expression of the hand built Newport Pagnell Aston Martin and by 1987 the model had reached its most complete and formidable form. Built in very limited numbers, these late carburettor X Pack cars combine the full 580 specification engine with the later chassis developments, giving them a level of performance and usability that sets them apart from earlier Vantages.

First delivered in the summer of 1987, this example was specified in the classic and highly complementary combination of Suffolk Red over Magnolia hide with dark piping, a colour scheme that perfectly suits the purposeful stance of the V8 Vantage. From new the car has been carefully maintained and its history file provides a clear and continuous record of its life, ownership and upkeep.

During long term ownership the car was the subject of a comprehensive restoration with expenditure in excess of £100,000. The invoices on file detail the extent of the work carried out and reflect a no compromise approach, with attention given to the structural condition, mechanical components and cosmetic presentation to return the car to the standard expected of one of the ultimate Newport Pagnell models. This was not a light refurbishment but a properly executed programme intended to ensure the car could be driven and enjoyed with confidence.

In 2017 the car was acquired by Aston Martin Works for their heritage fleet, a role reserved for examples that drive and present exactly as they should. Maintained by the factory team and used as intended, further significant expenditure was carried out during this period before it was sold on in 2022 and assigned the registration XPK 33.

On the road the character is exactly what defines a late X Pack Vantage. The upgraded 5.3 litre engine delivers immense mid range performance and effortless high speed cruising, while the ZF five speed gearbox gives the long legged refinement that makes these cars such capable continent crossing machines. There is a weight and integrity to the way it drives that only a hand assembled Aston Martin of this era can offer.

With known history from new, major restorative investment in excess of £100,000 and a period of care with Aston Martin Works, this is a highly collectable example of the definitive carburettor V8 Vantage and one that is ready to be used and enjoyed as intended.
