1986 | Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL

Many Mercedes lovers consider the W126 to be the brand's last classically elegant S-Class sedan. Its successor, the W140, was larger in all dimensions and was therefore often perceived as too monstrous and bulky. People preferred to show themselves in the W126 rather than the W140.

In order to fulfill its purpose as an executive car, our W126 was ordered with the top engine - 5 liter V8 with 245 hp - and in the long "SEL" body version. Of course, the car has an automatic transmission, air conditioning, central locking and electric windows at the front and rear. An immobilizer and a driver airbag were retrofitted by the previous owner. After 3 years as a management vehicle, the W126 passed to its second owner (born in 1917) in 1989, who finally sold it to its third and final owner (doctor, born in 1949) in 1995.

The car has always been cared for over the years and kept in perfect technical and visual condition. In the last two years, a major engine service was carried out and the automatic transmission was completely overhauled. Accordingly, the car runs and drives flawlessly - extremely quiet and with plenty of V8 thrust, it moves forward effortlessly and very powerfully on command.

Everything works as it should and the large SEL sedan feels so effortless that it's hard to believe you're driving a 38-year-old, almost 5.2 meter long luxury sedan. It's great fun to drive this vehicle. The body of our SEL -- painted in elegant anthracite gray metallic DB172 -- is very well preserved overall and only shows its age in a few places. We were only able to detect the beginnings of corrosion in a small area on the rear window frame, otherwise the body is remarkably clean, straight and apparently rust-free. The same applies to the wheel arches and the entire underbody area.

This W126 shows a mild patina in some places, but overall it is above average solid and well maintained. The interior with its lush velor seats is also in good condition. Door panels, seats and carpets are clean, the dashboard is free of cracks and all wooden parts are straight and have a well-preserved clear coat. Only the cheek of the driver's seat appears to be slightly damaged in one place - a tribute to years of continuous use. Our 500SEL is ready to go straight away.

When the property is sold, it receives a “fresh” general inspection and an H certificate. If you wish, we can deliver the car directly to your garage at cost.
