The Mercedes-Benz W116 is a series of flagship luxury saloons produced from 1972 until 1980. The W116 automobiles were the first Mercedes-Benz models to be officially called S-Class, although some earlier saloon models had already been designated unofficially with the letter S for "special class" (German: "Sonderklasse"). The W116 was selected as European Car of the Year in 1974.
This incredible original example was delivered to an Austrian Publishing company Rudolf Trauner Verlag in December 15 1977 with the following specification:

History - Beautifully maintained from new by Mercedes-Benz in Linz, Austria, the supplying dealer, this car enjoyed a carefully sheltered life. It was always garaged and eventually placed into storage between 1985 and 2005, at which time the odometer showed just 45,883 km.
Following this period of dormancy, the car was acquired by the highly regarded Zeitlos Classic Cars in Germany, who recommissioned it with care. Their work included replacing all fluids, carrying out a comprehensive underside clean, and preparing the vehicle for its next custodian.
Remarkably, the subsequent German owner continued to have the car serviced by Zeitlos for the next 20 years, resulting in an exceptional maintenance record with no fewer than 23 service stamps recorded in the impressive service booklet.
Condition – Thanks to its meticulous maintenance history, the engine performs beautifully. Even when fully warmed, it maintains the correct manufacturer’s oil pressure, with minimal oil consumption and a smooth, precise gearbox change.
The interior condition is entirely consistent with the car’s very low kilometers and limited use. The dashboard and wood trim are free from damage, while the seats and distinctive olive- green carpeting remain in superb order. The car also retains its original Mercedes-Benz supplied rubber floor mats.
Importantly, the car is accompanied by its complete book pack, including both data cards and the Becker radio instruction booklet, further supporting its originality and careful ownership. The car is supplied with a new German TÜV Roadworthiness test and recent February 2025 Valuation Report offering a Condition 2+ result.
