The introduction of the new 220 b, 220 S b and 220 SE b models (W 111 series) in 1959 marked the beginning of a new era at Mercedes-Benz. The top of it all was the 300 SE, presented in August 1961. Nowhere else were there so many special technical features: Safety passenger cell, aluminium engine with petrol injection, chassis with air suspension, automatic transmission, air conditioning, electric windows and sliding roof. With a price of DM 24,000, however, this model was twice as expensive as a 220 b. This limited the number of units, only 5,202 were built.
Our Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Limousine is sensationally original and of high quality. Original paint, the interior and the engineering perfect, but a replaced gearbox was fitted. The body panel is incredibly good. The data card shows delivery in California. The service work in the service booklet is documented up to 76,000 miles. The classic is registered in Germany, a current value appraisal certifies condition 2. We confirm this with a note: The original paintwork is of course no longer shiny like new. In short, a sensational Mercedes.
