Elegant colour combination of beige-gold metallic with light beige interiorRefined 4.0-litre straight-six engineFrom the final years of the legendary XJSOriginally delivered to the USARegistered in Germany since 2016
When the Jaguar XJS appeared in 1975, it faced the unenviable task of succeeding the legendary E-Type. Rather than attempting to imitate its predecessor, however, Jaguar chose an entirely different direction. The XJS became an elegant grand tourer, designed less for the racetrack than for covering long distances at considerable speed and with minimal effort.
Over its unusually long production run, the XJS was continually developed and refined. In later years, the 4.0-litre straight-six joined the range, its smooth power delivery perfectly complementing the character of the big Jaguar. In Convertible form, it added a style of motoring particularly well suited to a British grand tourer: open, comfortable and with plenty of bonnet stretching out ahead of the driver.
This Jaguar XJS 4.0 Convertible was built in 1995 and was originally delivered to the USA. It is particularly elegant in beige-gold metallic with light beige seats and a black soft top – an understated colour combination that perfectly complements the flowing lines of the late XJS.
The Convertible later made its way to Germany, where it was registered in Regensburg in 2016.
This XJS therefore comes from the final years of an exceptionally long model history. A classic grand tourer of the old school, in which comfort and elegance always mattered more than grand gestures – and which, with the roof down, offers just a little more of both.
