The Ferrari 550 Maranello is a two-seat grand tourer manufactured from 1996 and is powered by a front engined V12. It shared its platform and 5,474cc engine with the 456 but was positioned as the company's high-end model. Featuring a luxurious and spacious interior and, unusually for a Ferrari, the boot could accommodate a set of golf clubs. The 550 has a tubular steel frame chassis with light aluminium bodywork. Power steering is variable assist and, to be expected of a car with this performance, disc brakes are fitted all round. Acceleration is an impressive 4.2 seconds 0-60mph and top speed a reported 199mph. In total, 3,083 Ferrari 550's were produced of which only 457 were supplied within the UK.
Presented in the timeless and highly desirable combination of Argento Nürburgring over Nero hide, this Ferrari is a superbly preserved example that benefits from an exceptionally comprehensive history and long-term enthusiast ownership. The interior boasts Nero carpets, a carpeted rear parcel shelf, climate control and electric seats. Delivered new on 27th March 1998 by Stratstone Ferrari Manchester, the car has been regularly maintained throughout its life. Accompanying the car are the original owner's manuals, service book, and leather document wallet, together forming an impressive history file that chronicles nearly three decades of careful stewardship. Of note is the extensive service record, comprising regular annual maintenance carried out by a combination of official Ferrari dealers and respected marque specialists. Early servicing was entrusted to Ferrari Manchester, Maranello Egham, and Graypaul Ferrari, while subsequent maintenance continued at recognised Ferrari specialists and Graypaul Nottingham. Major services and routine cambelt replacements have been performed at the appropriate intervals, with documented cambelt changes recorded. A documented speedometer replacement was carried out by Graypaul Ferrari Nottingham in March 2006 at 23,878 miles, with the mileage history fully supported by service records. Following a period of professional storage between March 2022 and August 2024, the car was recommissioned and serviced in October 2024, before receiving a further annual service and cambelt change in October 2025. Having only covered 36,910 miles, (13,070 miles showing on the replacement speedo), this beautifully specified Ferrari represents an opportunity to acquire a highly original, meticulously maintained example with a comprehensive service history.
