This lime-yellow (color code 112) 1973 Datsun 240Z series II was registered by Culver City Datsun in California on February 28, 1973. On June 12, 1973 actress Edie Adams of Beverly Hills ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edie_Adams ) bought “the Fairlady” from the showroom of this Datsun dealership. Edie Adams was known for her roles in TV-series and some movies. She had personalized license plates made for her Datsun: EDIAD 2. One of these plates is still with the car. Also the complete history from purchase until now is documented.
Power is provided by a 2.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The engine runs very nice with good oil pressure and the gearbox shifts smoothly. The car is equipped with alloy 14″ wheels and has front disc brakes, chrome front and rear bumper guards, an AM/FM radio-CD-player by Kenwood, and a woodgrain steering wheel. The vehicle was acquired by the seller in 2003 on Ebay and registered in the Netherlands on November, 25 that year. The “Z” was driven only on sunny days and never during wintertime. At first it was driven 500-1000 miles a year, but the last ten years only a few times in the summer to keep it running.
The Datsun received all maintenance necessary and more. In the last few years the brakes were revised with all new parts, 4 new shock absorbers were mounted and the car received new tires. On top of this the car was stripped to bare metal, the lower back corners underneath the doors that were rusted were replaced by welding in new OEM corners. The stripped car received an anti-corrosion treatment (KTL) and was professionally repainted in its original color. The front bumper and chrome bumper guard were re-chromed. The seats were re-upholstered with the original vinyl material.
The car features chrome side mirrors on drivers and passengers side and new Z-badging on the C-pillars and also new badges on the hood, the fenders and the rear hatch.
Because Air Conditioning is hardly ever needed in the Netherlands, the AC-unit was removed, but the parts come with the car.
The Datsun 240Z is accident free.
The insurance company demanded a professional taxation for the all risk insurance and the value of the car was estimated at € 45.000 and that was before the repaint.
