Some cars need an introduction. An Alfa Romeo Giulia simply needs a key.
Ever since the Giulia arrived in the 1960s, it has been winning over anyone with a pulse and a soft spot for Italian engineering. Introduced in the 1960s, the Giulia quickly became known for combining elegant Italian design with genuinely engaging driving characteristics.
This 1974 Giulia Super 2.0 turns the volume up a little. Under the bonnet sits Alfa's lively 2.0-litre twin-cam, paired with the desirable five-speed manual gearbox. It's an engine that loves to rev, a chassis that begs for corners and steering that somehow always knows where the fun is. And then there's the rally pedigree. This isn't a Giulia that has spent its life polishing chrome outside a café. It comes equipped with rally seats, uprated brakes, additional spotlights and a rear seat delete. In other words: less cappuccino, more Espresso. Better yet, it has the results to back it up, finishing the Tulpenrallye.
Originally delivered in Germany before making its way to the Netherlands, this Giulia has clearly been looked after. The body is remarkably solid, the paint presents well, and the original 2.0-litre engine is still exactly where Alfa intended it to be. The car has been well maintained and comes with extensive documentation. A lightweight Italian saloon. A glorious twin-cam. Five perfectly spaced gears. Rally credentials. And enough auxiliary lights to convince yourself every B-road is the Monte Carlo Rally.
