The Sprint was built on 5 February 1963 and delivered to New York/USA for the first time in April 1963. We have no knowledge of its history in the USA; the last title originates from Balboa, California. The Giulia was purchased in California/USA by an Alfa enthusiast in 2018 and imported to Germany. At that time, the vehicle was in good, original condition, patinated, with the marks of the years, but essentially fully roadworthy and without any rust perforation. The original plan was to carefully refurbish the Giulia according to the requirements of its new owner, following the motto: as much as necessary - as little as possible.
This plan was soon abandoned - a mild partial restoration ultimately did not satisfy the perfectionist, and he decided to have the Sprint professionally and comprehensively rebuilt. This took place in 2020/21. The work was carried out by the renowned "Pagoda Classics" company in Croatia, which specializes in classic Alfa´s and Mercedes Pagodas.
The result is impressive - the paint quality, body surfaces and panel gaps are outstanding. The execution of the work, both on the mechanical components and the upholstery, is excellent - I think the pictures speak for themselves.
Since completion, the Sprint has been driven approximately 500 km, followed by a running-in service at a German Alfa specialist, including replacement of all oils, an inspection, retightening of the cylinder head, adjustment of the valves, and subsequently a dynamometer run to fine-tune the carburetors across all load ranges and determine the actual engine output.
The Sprint is now ready to go - with the 1600 engine, which now produces a genuine 110 hp, the perfectly shifting 5-speed gearbox, and the front disc brakes, driving this classic 1960s Alfa is an absolute pleasure.
