The Spezial Max was launched in 1954. A key distinguishing feature is the front-wheel drum brake, whereas the standard Max model had only a half-hub brake. An increase in power to 13 kW made the Spezial Max one of the fastest production motorcycles with a 247 cc engine. The Spezial Max has been kept in a museum in recent years and requires new tires and a full service.
