Descrizione

The Triumph Spitfire is a classic British sports car that has left an indelible mark on automotive history. Among its notable achievements is its participation in the Monte Carlo Rally, a prestigious motorsport event. One particular Spitfire stands out: the Triumph Spitfire Works Rally Car ADU 7B, which was one of the Rally Spitfires directly used by Standard Triumph during the Coupé des Alpes in 1964. It was painted in a captivating Powder Blue colour. The driving duo consisted of Terry Hunter (GB) as the driver and Patrick Lier (GB) as the navigator. They achieved an impressive 9th place overall and secured the 3rd position within their group.

This very well presented example was registered new on 7th May 1963 and has more recently been restored, and converted to replicate the Works Spitfires used in the Monte Carlo Rally in period. Fitted with a lightweight bodyshell made by T6 Motorsport Ltd the Spitfire comes with various different components to pay homage to the Monte Carlo rally, Coupe Des Alpes and a more standard convertible road car specification. The parts include two bonnets, one fast road stage, which is currently fitted and the other replicating a bonnet used in the Coupe Des Alpes 1964. Three tops are included, one of which is a bubble hard top, a 1964 hardtop with rear window glass, one fastback hard top and a soft top with frame and tonneau cover. Four sets of wheels, one Minator (with tyres fitted) one set of wire wheels with tyres and new spline hubs, one set 1964 Coupe Des Alpes wheels with tyres, and one set of Le Mans lightweight wheels with tyres. The seats are custom made and upholstered in blue leather with matching carpets fitted. The chassis has been repaired and restored to a high standard and a replacement engine was sourced and fitted.

Offered with sundry bills, its UK registration document, and a retention certificate with registration number ‘ADU 7A’ (the works rally car was ADU 7B). Also included is a spares package which is listed below. Offered to the open market needing some minor work to finish the restoration, we are sure this very well presented little Spitfire will bring huge amounts of fun to its new owner. Offered at No Reserve this example is guided at £13,000 to £17,000. Consigned by Daniel Godin
