Description

MLT 741D was first registered on the 1st of January 1966 and an original ‘buff’ logbook confirms the car was finished in White, as it presents today. The car spent the duration of the 1970’s in West Dulwich, South East London, and later Colchester, Essex. Following a long period of ownership in Colchester, it sold to its more recent owner in Derbyshire in 2004 who has owned the car for over 21 years.

The comprehensive history file details invoices for general maintenance and upkeep throughout the 1980's and 1990's, but it was 2003 before moving north to Derbyshire when the TR had a major program of mechanical work at 90,297 miles. Less than 7000 miles have been covered since 2003 when the TR4 was subject of a fully reconditioned engine with balance crankshaft, completely rebuilt gearbox, overdrive and new clutch assembly. From 2004, the TR4 was subject of some cosmetic refurbishment work and over 20 years on still presents very well.

MLT 741D is a lovely, well-presented example. It has the appearance of a very well-kept older restoration with a nice, sharp paint finish, lovely brightwork and an excellent, straight bodyshell and chassis. The interior was re-trimmed many years ago and presents nicely making the cabin a very pleasant place to be as the red carpets with white piping match the seats and hood bag perfectly. The engine bay presents well, the car has been used for local rallies and events and having covered just 7000 miles with its long-term owner, it's clear it's been a car for summer months and the classic car season. The TR4A drives very well, the engine is super fit with excellent oil pressure and the gearbox and overdrive superb as expected with the mileage since overhaul. Its long-term owner has rarely used the car for the past couple of years, hence the reason for parting with it, so within the price will be a major service ahead of delivery to its next owner.

This is a fabulous, strong driving UK Home market TR4A that comes with a fabulous history and has a history of long-term owners who have really enjoyed this very honest, genuine car.
