The Porsche 981 Spyder is a limited-edition, high-performance version of the Boxster, designed for driving enthusiasts who crave a more focused, raw driving experience. Released in 2015, it stands apart from the regular Boxster with several key enhancements. Most notably, the 981 Spyder features a more powerful 3.8-litre flat-six engine sourced from the Porsche 911, delivering 375bhp compared to the Boxster's 265 to 330bhp options. The Spyder also benefits from a lighter, more minimalist approach, shedding unnecessary luxuries and focusing on performance. This includes a manually operated roof, sportier suspension, lightweight bucket seats and lightweight wheels, among many other changes. Visually, the Spyder's design is distinct, with unique front and rear styling, including a more aggressive front fascia and a prominent 'double bubble' panel on the rear of the car. Inside, the 981 Spyder retains a stripped-back, driver-focused interior, with Alcantara upholstery and sportier touches. Together, these upgrades elevate the Spyder as a purer, more thrilling version of the Boxster. Just 227 cars were supplied to the UK, making them much rarer than a 981 GT4 and as a fun road car, the Spyder is probably the best options compared to the even more hardcore GT products.

This beautiful example is one of just 227 UK supplied 981 Spyders and is very desirably presented in Guards Red with black leather folding carbon bucket seats. This is the absolute driving enthusiast 'purist' specification, with carbon ceramic brakes and radio delete, the lightest possible specification for the car. If prospective buyers wanted to fit a radio, it is reportedly quite an easy retrofit but for those seeking the most 'back to basics' Spyder they can get, then this is as good as it gets. Our vendor has cherished this car for three years and will sorely miss it but a house move and an ever growing list of 'must buy' cars means the decision has been made to sell it and tick some other cars off the list! The overall condition of this example is superb, it's been used and cared for as intended and we highly encourage the next custodian to take this Porsche on a trip to the Alps, this is probably the perfect car for such a trip, with excellent luggage space and a soundtrack to die for. The car has always been serviced by Porsche main dealers, with the most recent being at Porsche Bournemouth less than 3,000 miles ago. This is a real future classic and will go down as one of the great Porsche's of the modern era, supplied with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until June 2026, two keys, service book and supporting invoices.
