THIS 911 2.4E

The 1972 Porsche 911E is a one-year-only model, notable for its unique external oil filler — the famed Ölklappe — and this example stands out with its rare, original Signal Gelb (Signal Yellow) finish and factory sunroof. Though the early history of the car is undocumented, it is currently part of a private collection owned by a passionate enthusiast.

The body was repainted in its original Signal Yellow during the restoration, and paint-meter readings confirm a healthy, consistent thickness throughout. The finish shows exceptional gloss and depth, and a recent professional detailing has elevated it to a true showroom-shine condition. The beautifully restored Fuchs wheels are fitted with recent Vredestein tyres, for both performance and period-correct appearance.

Inside, the car features a beautifully retrimmed black interior. Highlights include a pair of aftermarket Recaro-style Sport Seats that offer excellent comfort and support. The carpets have been replaced and remain in superb condition. RS-style door panels add a touch of flair, and while an aftermarket sport steering wheel is currently fitted, the original is included with the sale. A battery cut off switch is installed for easy access and storage during winter.

According to one of the mechanics, the restoration began around 2019 and was completed in 2021. The work was carried out by Drive911 in Belgium, a workshop that has since closed its doors. A detailed set of photos is available documenting the full extent of the restoration. The odometer reads 11,500 kilometers, a figure that aligns with the car’s excellent condition and most likely reflects the distance covered since its restoration.

Mechanically, this 911E is exceptionally strong. The original 2.4L flat-six engine, producing 165 horsepower, runs smoothly and delivers excellent torque. The mechanical fuel injection (MFI) system has been refurbished and properly calibrated, resulting in crisp throttle response and reliable cold starts. Upgraded hydraulic chain tensioners are installed for improved reliability.

The five-speed 915 gearbox has also been rebuilt and shifts smoothly, with no play or hesitation across any gear. The steering is tight, responsive, and confident — this is a car that truly shines on twisty roads.

Light, communicative, and engaging — early 911s offer a driving purity that's hard to replicate. Finished in one of the most desirable period colors and benefiting from rare features like the sunroof and sport seats, this recently restored and well-maintained 911E is the perfect companion for spirited weekend drives or classic car rallies.

Currently Belgian-registered, it is sold on behalf of our client.
