In October 1981, the coupé version of the 126 series (C 126) was introduced. The model designation was "SEC" (S-Class Coupé with Injection Engine). The SEC's floorpan was essentially derived from the sedan, but 85 millimeters shorter. This resulted in a 30 millimeter longer wheelbase than its predecessor. To compensate for the lack of B-pillars, the roof structure was improved, and the A-pillars were reinforced with welded-in, high-strength tubes. This allowed the coupé to meet the same safety standards as the S-Class sedans.

Besides the coupé body, the SEC differed from the sedan in several ways: instead of wide headlights with side-by-side high and fog lamps, the coupé had narrower headlights; the fog lamps were integrated into the bumper. This allowed for a wider grille that extended into the hood. The freestanding Mercedes star atop the grille was replaced by a large star emblem within the grille. The exterior door handles are positioned above large plastic covers. The chrome trim along the lower edge of the tailgate, which on the sedan only fills the space between the taillights, is wider on the coupé and extends into the rear fenders. The absence of B-pillars and the almost completely retractable rear side windows create a large opening at the side of the car. The coupé has two individual seats in the rear. Because coupé variants are traditionally positioned higher than sedans in the Mercedes hierarchy, the SEC was also more expensive and better equipped than the sedans and was only available with V8 engines. The C 126 was produced until the end of 1991 and was replaced in 1992 by the C 140.

The car presented here is a Mercedes delivered in Germany. It is finished in a beautiful dark blue with a stunning beige leather interior. The absence of a B-pillar makes the car truly unique. Under the hood, we see a nearly new-looking engine. It has beautiful wheels and is otherwise very original. This is a beautiful and chic car for the enthusiast.
