The 500 E featured a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine derived from the 500 SL (R129) roadster. The sporty braking performance also came from SL components: the 300 mm discs with four-piston calipers from the SL 500 were standard equipment on the 1992 and early 1993 models. The later 1993 models and all 1994 models came with the improved 320 mm discs from the 600 SL. The rear brakes were 278 mm discs from the 500 SL in all years. In the US, the 500 E was delivered fully equipped, with the only options available to buyers being a dealer-installed CD changer and an integrated mobile phone. The 500 E was only available with left-hand drive and had four leather Recaro sport seats (the front seats were generally heated). The press called the car "a wolf in sheep's clothing," but performance tests at the time yielded results that were generally considered impressive: 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration in 5.5 to 6.0 seconds and a quarter-mile (0.4 km) in 14.1 seconds at a speed of 163 km/h (101 mph). Top speed was mechanically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) by a final drive ratio that revved the engine to full capacity once the limit was reached. To increase speed, different gearboxes had to be installed that adjusted the final drive ratio. Fuel consumption was estimated at 16.8 l/100 km (32.4 mpg) in the city and 13.8 l/100 km (32.4 mpg) on the highway.

Our 500 E looks like new. The interior looks almost brand new, and the black leather looks as if no one has ever sat in it. The undamaged bodywork also looks new. It's a beautiful car that looks unused from every angle. It also features a sunroof and a stunning Becker Mexico radio. Otherwise, the car has the usual standard options for a 500 E. A beautiful and incredibly valuable Mercedes for the true enthusiast.
