The Senna GTR

Open the door to The Barn here at Girardo & Co. HQ right now and you’ll be immediately greeted by two mighty track-focused McLarens: the Senna GTR and the F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ (chassis number 27R). Parked one directly ahead of the other, the family resemblance is clear to see. Both cars have broad, flat chins. Both have forward, deep and similarly shaped windscreens offering a generous view of the spartan cabins within. And both have desperately long tails with near comically large aerodynamic addenda. The way these two cars go about delivering their searing performance, however, is rather different. And in reality, the younger cousin would run rings around the elder statesman on a racetrack today.

Just 75 track-only GTR variants of the McLaren Senna were built. The Woking company took its then-flagship Ultimate Series model, the road-going but track-focused Senna, and freed it from the shackles of conformity and legislation. Upon release, McLaren proudly exclaimed that it was the quickest car it had ever produced outside of Formula 1. And with 814HP on tap from its twin-turbocharged four-litre V8, a dry weight of 1,188kg and a GT3-grade aero package creating 1,000kg of downforce at 150mph, you can well believe it. The Senna GTR’s trump card, however, is not its outright performance. It’s how easily accessible that performance is.

While all that impossibly intricate aero appears intimidating, it’s actually a cog working in tandem with a number of other key systems including the GT3-derived suspension and enormous carbon-ceramic brakes to maximise stability. That means whether you’re slinging the car down a straight with the rear wing stalled for those extra miles-per-hour or on the apex of an awkwardly tight right-hander, the Senna GTR’s fundamental feeling will inspire controlled confidence, not anxiety. Working with McLaren’s driver coaches and suite of analysis technology at its private ‘Pure’ track-driving events at circuits around the world and we’re sure you’ll shave seconds off your lap times with the Senna GTR. Particularly safe in the security of the car’s FIA-specification carbon-fibre ‘Monocage’, winged driver’s seat and six-point harnesses.

Configured in full Stormtrooper specification (it’s finished in Pearl White with McLaren Orange accents), the McLaren Senna GTR we’re offering is number 010 of the 75 built. Delivered new to Sydney, the car’s covered a mere 413 miles in the custody of its single owner and been serviced correspondingly. In 2024, number 010 was driven by the world-famous motoring journalist Chris Harris for one of his Quick Steer YouTube videos (click here to watch it). In it, Harris remarked, “Normally I’m a bit sniffy about these track-only road cars, but this feels pretty outrageous to me – I’m not in any shape, but this car certainly is!” This McLaren is accompanied by four wheels shod with slick tyres, a set of wet-weather tyres and a VBOX telemetry system.
