Description

The Maserati Ghibli made its debut in 1966 at the prestigious Turin motor show. It was equipped with a powerful four-cam V8 90° 4.7 engine, which produced an impressive 335 horsepower. This engine originated in the legendary Maserati 450s racing cars and was later enlarged to 4.9 liters for the "SS" version. With a staggering top speed of 275 km/h (!), the Ghibli was on par with its Italian competitor, the Ferrari 365GTB Daytona.
The design of the Ghibli was realized by none other than Giorgetto Giugiaro, for the renowned design house Ghia. He succeeded in creating a perfectly balanced and timeless design, making the Ghibli today considered one of the most stunning car designs ever. The interplay of pure elegance and brute force makes this Ghibli, named after a Sahara desert wind, an authentic Italian GT car of unparalleled allure.

This stunning 1970 example underwent a thorough and documented restoration in '88-'89, after which its last owner enjoyed it to the fullest for several more years before it was carefully put away in 1993. When we rediscovered this stunning Ghibli in its hiding place, with the exception of one new coat of paint, this Maserati was found to be in completely original condition: from the engine and suspension to the carpets and spare tire. To ensure our RNR quality after the long idle time, we took a close look at all the technical parts, including the engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes, and more. This was of course accompanied by an extensive photo report.
