1998 Jaguar XKR Paramount Performance Donington
The XK8 was launched in 1996 and was the first generation of a new XK series available in both coupe and convertible body styles and with the new 4.0 litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The 1998 XKR was introduced with a supercharged version of the engine. Jeremy Clarkson, during a Top Gear test-drive, likened the interior of the original XK8 to sitting inside Blenheim Palace. Paramount Performance is a name synonymous with the Jaguar marque and high-performance engineering tuning. Paramount Performance was the first tuning company to specialise in the modern range of Jaguar vehicles and have heritage and history of working with Jaguars, developing into a leading modern Jaguar performance specialist worldwide.
This 1998 XKR was converted by Paramount Performance from new to Donington specification. The Donington specification includes speed shift gearbox conversion, 19" alloy wheels, uprated suspension, selectable steering, steel dash trim kit, remapped ECU, uprated supercharger, Paramount exhaust and induction system and Paramount aero body kit. These modifications completed transformed the car into a serious super GT producing 400bhp with far sharper handling and more aggressive looks. This example was previously owned by both the supplying dealer and the owner of Paramount Performance and boasts a comprehensive service history. The history file contains the stamped maintenance book, older invoices from Racing Green including replacement timing chain, guides and replacement gearbox. In more recent years, the fuel pump has been replaced, ABS pump rebuilt and serviced and a new alternator has been fitted. Supplied with a V5 registration document, MoT test certificate valid until July 2026 and all handbooks, this is a very attractive proposition, offered without reserve and including the XKR cherished registration.
