Description

Jaguar XJS V12 – the epitome of luxury grand tourers of the late 1980’s and this particular example is one of those very special cars with impressive provenance, history and paperwork that is so often unrepeatable. G798 TUU spent 35 years with one owner, has covered just 61000 miles and comes with its original bill of sale and incredible history back to new to include service booklet, brochures, MOT’s since it was three years old and invoices/receipts. The order for G798 TUU was placed on the 20th of May 1988 by a London SW7 businessman with Follet Jaguar on the Fulham Road and due to an overflowing order book the car wasn’t delivered until the 1st September 1989. Along with the fuel put into the tank, the price new for the Jaguar was £39,917.25 which would be around £105,000 in today’s money.

This is an XJS that has been thoroughly enjoyed by its long term owner. Soon after delivery in 1989, the Jaguar was taken on a European tour to the South of France and the plan was to carry out many more extravagant excursions. In 1992 the family became a 2+1, so the two seater Jaguar became the second car, predominantly utilised for weekend and shopping trips. The XJS enjoyed a trip overseas to Cannes before carrying on to the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix which the owner described as a local run out compared to his history with previous cars of touring Australia. After 35 years and 61000 reliable miles of ownership, the XJS was sold in December 2024 to one of our long term regular Sussex based clients who has covered a few hundred miles of enjoyable motoring throughout the summer months before coming to us for the first time.

Overall this is a beautiful car and has all the hallmarks of a true collectors car. The Signal Red paintwork holds a very deep finish testament to its fastidious long-term owner keeping exceptional care of the car. The interior has the luxurious comfort that is expected from any great GT car and is in keeping with the standard of which the exterior presents. It is indeed a low mileage, well cared for interior that superbly compliments the exterior. The engine bay is beautifully detailed, as is the boot compartment with correct tools and the power hood is excellent. On the road, the V12 5.3L engine pulls so smoothly through the rev range briskly up to the national speed limit. The TH400 General Motors designed 3-speed gearbox is suited perfectly to the high torque of the engine and provides buttery-smooth gear changes. Steering is both direct and precise through winding country roads but commands little interference on dual carriageways and motorways, perfect for long trips. This is an impressive low mileage, low ownership car that has exceptional paperwork and is in beautiful condition throughout.
