Description

Hilton & Moss are delighted to present this fantastic Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 Roadster at our showrooms.

The Series 2 E-Type, produced from 1968 to 1971 brought with it a refinement of Jaguar’s original formula. Beneath the long, sculpted bonnet, the celebrated XK engine can be found in its 4.2 litre form, offering effortless torque and a wonderfully rich soundtrack. The introduction of improved cooling, better brakes and upgraded electrics made the Series 2 a much more useable and reliable option in comparison to the earlier Series 1.

Most notably, the drive of the Series 2 was much smoother with the introduction of the synchromesh gearbox, making for a much friendlier driving experience. With largely unchanged styling, the Series 2 represents a great option for touring whilst remaining suitable for showing on a concours lawn or part of a private collection.

This particular car has to be one of the most outstanding Jaguar E-Type Series 2’s we have ever seen. Very seldom does anybody lavish the time and attention on the Series 2, even though those in the know appreciate that it is the more accomplished machine. Having been acquired by a Jaguar aficionado who set about building his dream car, over 2,000 hours were devoted into what was already a very good example. Today, the car presents as a truly outstanding example.

The quality of the craftsmanship has endured and even many years later, you can see that his meticulous attention to detail focused on every nut and bolt of the restoration has truly paid dividends. Having been thoroughly inspected and prepared for sale by the Hilton & Moss team, this E-Type is presented in fantastic condition, both mechanically and cosmetically.

The Heritage certificate reveals that this car rolled out of the factory on August 13th 1969, destined for Henlys of Manchester and was soon acquired by Mr. J L Samuels. Finished in its factory specified colourway of Jaguar Cream with a Navy Blue interior, the car is a full matching numbers example, retaining its original engine, gearbox and body.

The comprehensive history file includes workshop and parts invoices over the years, documents from the cars time spent overseas and extensive restoration records. Truly a testament to its former keeper the car is on the button and ready to head off on whatever adventures you so desire. Viewing is essential to truly appreciate this outstanding example.

The car starts readily, idles smoothly, and pulls with that signature Jaguar surge through the gears. Whether admired for its design, enjoyed on a Sunday drive, or added to a discerning collection, this E-Type represents the perfect balance of heritage and usability.

Few cars capture the spirit of the 1960s quite like the Jaguar E-Type, and even fewer remain as timeless in appeal. The Series 2 Roadster stands today as an icon of motoring excellence. Elegant, involving and unmistakably British.

Available now, only at Hilton & Moss.
