Description

This beautiful, top class home market Jaguar MKII 3.8 with manual override gearbox was manufactured on the 11th of December 1963. Five days later the car was dispatched to Bull Stake Motors of Darlaston before heading to its first owner in Birmingham with the registration mark RH 17. By 1987, the MKII was in the hands of Vicarage Motor Company who carried out a full nut and bolt, bare shell rebuild. Vicarage refinished the car in Red with Grey leather upholstery.

Vicarage were regarded as one of the best classic car restorers of their time, specialising in Jaguar, it will come as no surprise to see how well this car presents many years later. As often with Vicarage cars, many upgrades hugely enhance the car, including stainless steel wire wheels, uprated HIF SU carbs, electronic ignition, power steering, alternator charging system, uprated heater and fan module, air conditioning, Vanden Plas reclining seats that include headrests, inertia seat belts and heated rear screen.

Throughout the previous 25 years, the car has been maintained thoroughly by CMC. Whilst covering minimal annual mileage the service book has been stamped at 53045, 55830, 58716, 59431, and 60872 miles. Recently, the car has benefitted from some major expenditure. A refresh of the engine was carried out, with the cylinder head being removed, skimmed, and refitted along with new cam cover gaskets, and cam oil feed pipes. The power steering pump has been renewed along with a new fuse box being fitted and further electrical recommissioning.

Freshly into stock, our road test revealed the MKII starts on the button with the 3.8 engine pulling strongly through the rev range while holding great oil pressure. Through corners and under braking the Jaguar is suitably responsive, inspiring confidence with spirited driving. The interior has been beautifully preserved since its restoration, and the exterior paintwork holds a deep finish with bright chromework throughout. This is a high quality, show standard level example that will most certainly not disappoint.
