For sale is a Singer Nine Le Mans Sports from 1934. This vehicle with the UK registration “BKO 736” is in excellent mechanical and visual condition and is ready to go.
The Singer was produced at the factory in 1934 and delivered directly to Mrs. Audrey Scudamore. She owned a total of five Singer vehicles and participated in various events in the 1930s with them. Whether this particular car was also used in competition is not recorded.
How long BKO 736 was in Mrs. Scudamore’s ownership is not known. The documented history resumes in 1984, when the car was purchased by J. T. Kelly from Kingsley, Northampton (England). In 1987 the Singer was sold on to T. J. Baker from Papplewick, Nottingham. It remained there until the end of 1993, before the vehicle was sold to its current Belgian owner.
In 1994 a extensive restoration began in England. Much of the work was carried out by the Singer specialist and former owner T. J. Baker in Papplewick (Nottingham). Extensive correspondence and photographic documentation attest to the careful and detailed restoration.
The 4-cylinder engine with 972 cc displacement and the 4-speed manual transmission were also overhauled comprehensively. The engine received a cross-flow header, two SU carburettors, and a sportier camshaft profile. This combination yields a noticeably agile and engaging car with a sporty character.
After more than 30 years in the current owner’s possession, the car still presents in excellent condition. The Singer has been continuously maintained, optimised, and developed with particular regard to originality.
BKO 736 is currently registered in Belgium and ready to drive. The vehicle is eligible to participate in numerous historic events and has already been awarded several times at different concours events in Belgium.
