Morris Minor Traveller 1000 LHD in very good condition. Newly delivered in the UK and imported to the Netherlands in 1995, where it was restored and reconditioned. It was also immediately converted to left-hand drive, which is a big plus. The work was carried out with craftsmanship and almost everything is new, improved or reconditioned. What a charming and spacious estate car this is. It is actually the forefather of the Mini Countryman and is remarkably comfortable to drive. It can easily keep up with today's traffic.
During the restoration, the Traveller was repainted in the iconic British colour “Old English White” and the paintwork looks immaculate with only a few signs of wear. So the exterior looks good, the doors hang nicely straight and they close like a (British) safe. The beautiful ash wood frame has been renewed and looks very nice. Clearly a well-maintained interior sleeper. It is an older restoration, so it is a great compliment that the Morris is still in such solid condition.
The interior is also in excellent condition. The dashboard has additional gauges, so you can see that the engine is running very smoothly; in addition to good oil pressure, the engine also stays at the perfect temperature. The Charles Ware seats and rear seat are very special. This respected British Minor specialist supplied custom-made seats and rear seats for the Morris Minor. The seats are extremely comfortable and have continuously adjustable backrests, headrests and seat belts.
The Minor always starts immediately, because the last owner had everything meticulously tuned. He wanted every classic car in his possession to start immediately, after just one turn of the starter motor. That's old-fashioned craftsmanship. So it “starts on the button”! The reconditioned engine runs smoothly and has plenty of power. The gearbox shifts smoothly and is quiet, and the differential has no noise either. The mileage has been read.
There are stacks of invoices for maintenance and reconditioning, and not all the hours have been counted. This Minor has been improved in many ways, such as front disc brakes including brake booster, alternator, tip wiper switch, extra gauges, rear fog light, tow bar, etc.
The Minor is a reliable classic car thanks to its simple and honest technology. It is essentially the British Beetle, but more versatile, as the Beetle was not available as a four-door or estate car. When it was introduced in 1948, it was “the world's supreme small car” and 1.6 million were built. It was loved by nurses, shopkeepers and family men alike. The Minor was also widely used in the British army.
