Descripción

The MG TC is one of the cars that defined British sports car after the Second World War. When the MG factory in Abingdon resumed car production after 6 years of war, manufacturing tanks, armoured vehicles and aircraft engines, naturally they did not have a completely new car model ready immediately. The TC model, which came only 5 weeks after the official end of the war in 1945, was therefore largely identical to the pre-war TB model. The design was based on the pre-war MGs, but the TC model was the first to be exported in large numbers – not least to the USA, where it initiated Americans' fascination with light European sports cars.

The basic design was simple. Low weight, a lively 1250 cc XPAG engine with a powerful 54 hp, precise steering and a driving experience where the driver was an active part of the machine. The MG TC is not about raw engine power, but more pure driving pleasure in its simplest form.

The MG TC on offer here is different from most, however. Originally delivered as one of the very first to Sweden. Chassis number TC3114 can be documented as the first racing car of the Swedish racing driver Per-Olov "Picko" Troberg. In the summer of 1958, the young Picko bought the car and shortly afterwards made his debut in Swedish motorsport with this particular MG. It was the beginning of an impressive career that later led him to international motorsport and made him one of the most well-known names in Swedish motorsport.

The car's history is exceptionally well-documented. Since delivery in May 1948, it has had a long line of well-known Swedish owners before it came to Denmark in 2023. The complete ownership history follows the car and provides a rare insight into more than 75 years of continuous history, one of whom owned the car for a full 60 years!

The car appears in the classic color combination British Racing Green with a red interior – exactly as an MG TC should look. The instrumentation, hood and the characteristic wire wheels emphasize the car's authentic expression, and the overall impression is a well-maintained and honest sports car that ask to be used rather than just displayed.

There are several fine MG TCs around. But only one can be documented as the car in which Picko Troberg took the first steps towards an international motorsport career. This makes chassis number TC3114 more than just a classic English sports car – it is a small piece of Scandinavian motorsport history.

Comes registered on historic black enamel license plates with the number T3114, which is quite matching for this car.
