The 560 SL convertible was the latest in Mercedes-Benz's long and much loved line of luxury sportscars. Launched in 1983 it could trace its lineage back to the 230 SL of 1963. The 560 SL was powered by a 5.5 litre, overhead camshaft V8 engine producing 227bhp, an output good enough for a top speed of 220kmh with 100kmh reachable in around eight seconds. There were improvements to the running gear in the form of anti-dive, anti-squat rear suspension, a limited slip differential and revised steering geometry. The 560 SL has a high level of standard equipment, included leather upholstery, anti-lock braking, an anti-theft alarm system, stereo radio/cassette, leather trimmed steering wheel, gear lever and an improved climate control system.
This very original 560SL was imported by the present owner from Atlanta, USA and is presented in lovely condition throughout in Silver with blue leather interior. It comes with some history, a Mercedes-Benz Maintenance booklet with some stamps and an Owner's Manual. Being from Atlanta where it has a warm ambient temperature, we are reliably informed that it is in original condition and is rust free! Consigned by James Good
