The Maserati Merak—the faster, more fun, and perhaps even more stylish sibling of the Maserati Bora, coming from a family with unmatched pedigree. While the Bora was equipped with a V8, the Merak opted for a lighter V6, resulting in significantly better handling. An elegant dancer compared to the heavyweight bodybuilder of the family.
Let's take a moment to appreciate that impressive lineage. The Merak is the masterpiece of none other than Giorgetto Giugiaro, the legend also responsible for icons such as the Saab 9000, BMW M1, Lotus Esprit, and yes, even the Nikon D8 camera. An impressive resume, to say the least.
But I digress. Before you is a Merak, born in 1974, powered by a 3.0-liter engine derived from the 2.7-liter SM engine. This beauty was originally delivered in Italy and has been in the proud possession of its current owner since 2014. The combination of the black exterior and red interior is nothing short of breathtaking. Once you open the door and take your seat, the dashboard greets you with a design that suspiciously resembles that of an SM. The seating position feels like a real race car but is surprisingly comfortable. And then, a glance back—and yes, a back seat! Granted, it’s more suited for hamsters than humans, but it’s a genuine 2+2, so it’s defensible at home as well!
It has always been meticulously maintained and is ready to win over a new owner.
