2007 | Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

Launched in 2004 the all new Ferrari 612 Scaglietti replaced the smaller and ageing Ferrari 456. A much larger car, the 612 offered genuine seating for up to four adults and their luggage. Power came from the excellent Tipo F133 V12 first seen in the 550 Maranello. The version in the 612 is the 5,748cc Tipo 133F, a hotter version of the engine found in the 575M. As a result power was 533bhp, an increase of nearly 30bhp over the 575M.

Performance was mighty, 0-60mph took just 4 seconds and the top speed was 199 mph. All very impressive but what is even more so is that this five metre long GT car was capable of lapping the Fiorano test track faster than a 360 Modena and 575M and just a second behind an F40!

At launch, the Ferrari 612 was £170,500 before options, to put that into perspective an equivalent brand new Bentley Continental GT was £110,000. Add a few sensible options and the price would get close to and sometimes exceed £200,000.

Car Offered 

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti for sale with Wrightson Automotive is in the latter category, costing well in excess of £200,000 when new. This was an extremely high spec order, most probably on account of its first owner, the daughter of S.P. Hinduja, whose family currently top the Sunday Times Rich List in 2023 and have done for many of the previous years.

Finished in Grigio Silverstone (FER 740) with Nero interior and Grigio Scura contrast stitching, the options included: Leather dash inserts, Bose sound system, Scuderia shields (these were £1,500 on their own!), Nav Trak and Parking sensors. The most important option of all was the HGTS Handling Equipment Package, to give it its full title. A £7,500 option, the HGTS pack included Sports Exhaust, 19” Split Rim alloys, upgraded gearbox software for 30% faster shifts, stiffer anti-roll bars and an updated ECU for the suspension control. Included with the car is a very rare VIP booklet from the factory showing the car in various stages of build with photographs and dates documenting the entire process, all beautifully bound in lovely red leather.

Retained by the first owner until 2015, the second owner kept the car until 2018 when it was sold to the current owner. All three owners have done a fantastic job of looking after the car, with servicing being carried out by H.R. Owen in London until 2015 and then specialist Bob Houghton ever since. The service in September 2020 was a full cambelt service, as a result the cambelts won’t need to be done until September 2025 or at 39,000 miles, whichever comes first. Today the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti has covered just 12,900 miles from new and is ready to be enjoyed by its fourth owner.
