Available for sale is an early, first-year Range Rover P38 (first registration February 15, 1995) in the classic and highly sought-after combination of Epsom Green Metallic over an Osprey leather interior.
This vehicle spent its entire life from 1995 until my recent acquisition lückenlos (seamlessly) in the hands of a single family. The history is fully transparent and beautifully documented: the original, handwritten price calculation from Depireux British Cars from October 1994 totaling DM 112,111 as well as the original new vehicle invoice totaling DM 100,202 are both present in the original. A thick binder filled with service invoices and historic MOT/TÜV reports validates the genuine mileage of currently 132,000 kilometers. The official German "H-Zulassung" (historic vehicle registration) has already been successfully completed.
Major Technical Revision (Investment of nearly €19,000 in 2025 alone):
Anyone familiar with the P38 model generation is well aware of the inherent weak points of the drivetrain. To ensure total peace of mind for the coming years, this vehicle underwent a uncompromising, comprehensive mechanical overhaul in 2025 at a renowned specialist workshop. All invoices are present, and the entire process is documented.
- Drivetrain Completely Renewed: Installation of a brand-new automatic gearbox, new torque converter, new reinforced heavy-duty flexplate, new Borg-Warner transfer case, and a new rear axle differential. The entire system operates absolutely flawlessly.
- Cooling System & Peripherals New: Brand-new engine radiator, new water pump, and a new power steering pump installed. The original Rover V8 long-stroke engine was resealed and perfectly dialed in during this process.
- Axles & Brakes: Front axle completely disassembled, de-rusted, preserved, and re-installed with four brand-new ball joints. Rear wheel hub assemblies, including half-shaft oil seals and ABS sensors, are brand new. Brake discs and pads renewed all around; the entire brake line system was previously replaced with new, professionally flared lines.
- Body & Interior Restoration: The air suspension tank was removed and newly sealed at all connections. The upper tailgate was fully de-rusted and professionally repainted. The vehicle received a thorough cavity wax/underbody protection treatment. The notoriously sagging headlining, including the A-pillars, was completely reupholstered in factory-correct fabric. A 2-stage carbon seat heating system was invisibly retrofitted beneath the original leather covers.
Honest Assessment:
This Range Rover is not a sterile museum piece but a fully usable, highly dependable classic with an honest and beautiful original patina. Commensurate with its age, there are three minor points to note: The windshield currently has two small stone chips in the field of vision (complementary of a truck on the highway). The rubber bellows of the air suspension are visually showing their age and should be replaced in the medium term. The climate control display shows the typical P38 "book symbol" fault.
The car drives, shifts, and rides on its air suspension absolutely magnificently. If you are looking for one of the typical neglected project cars with a massive backlog of deferred maintenance, this is not the car for you. This is arguably one of the most reliable and best-documented P38s on the market today.
