The Ford Cortina Mk. I was produced between 1962 and 1966 and marked the beginning of one of the UK's most beloved automotive lineages. Designed by Ford of Britain, the Cortina was innovative for its time, blending modern styling with practical features that appealed to a broad audience. With its simple, yet elegant lines and spacious interior, it quickly became a favourite among families and commuters alike. Powered by a range of efficient four-cylinder engines, including the popular 1300cc and 1500cc variants, the Mk. I Cortina offered a balance of performance and economy that resonated with buyers. Its lightweight construction and well-tuned suspension contributed to agile handling, making it enjoyable to drive. The Cortina's popularity was further bolstered by its success in motorsport, particularly in rallying and touring car racing, where it achieved many notable victories.

This lovely 1964 Ford Cortina Super has been completely restored and uprated. In 2013 the car was stripped down and the bodywork repaired where necessary before being repainted at a cost in excess of £11,500. The engine was replaced with a 1989 Ford Pinto engine from Burts Motorsport who rebored it 2.1 litres fitted Mahle pistons, re-ground and balanced the crankshaft, fitted a 'fast road' cam, carried out light port work to the cylinder head, fitted unleaded valve seats, new valves, a new 32/36 Weber carburettor, four branch exhaust manifold and fitted a Vernier fully electronic distributor and leads. This was coupled with a new aluminium radiator and a five-speed gearbox. The car was dyno'ed 129.9hp. The modifications didn't stop there, the suspension has been lowered by two inches, fitted with a rebuilt Ford Carpi steering rack, disc brakes all round and with 13-inch RS alloy road wheels. Finished in green with an all-new green interior, this Super Ford Cortina is supplied with a V5 registration document and a large file containing photographs of the body restoration, invoices, a breakdown of the engine work carried out by Burts Motorsport and several old MoT test certificates.
