Beschreibung
The 1969 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 marked a refined evolution in Ferrari's grand touring lineage. Introduced at the 1967 Paris Salon and produced until 1971, this elegant 2+2 coupe was designed by Pininfarina and offered a rare blend of high performance and passenger comfort that could not be matched.
Here was a Grand Tourer in the best sense of the word, that gently piloted its owner and his or hers passengers in style across the continent. An owner who did not necesarily wish to show off the power available, but one who appreciated having the power available, should the need arise.
Under the hood, the 365GT features a 4.4-liter Colombo V12 engine, delivering a healthy 320 horsepower at 6,600 rpm paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This setup enables the 365GT 2+2 to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7 seconds, with a top speed of around 240 km/h -remarkable figures for a luxury Grand Tourer of the era.
With its comfortable leather seats, power steering and brakes, self-leveling suspension and electric windows, it is no wonder the 365GT 2+2 became Ferrari’s best selling car in period with nearly 800 cars produced in four years.
The history of this particular 365GT 2+2 goes back to the 1970s when it was owned by a certain Mr. Koch in Switzerland.
Mr. Koch would service the Ferrari at his local garage; ‘Sport Garage’ in Urdorf, Switzerland. An invoice from 1980 states the mileage to be 7680km, so clearly Mr. Koch took good care of his Ferrari and used it very moderately.
In 2006 the Ferrari was sold by Mr. Koch to an enthusiast in Madrid, Spain where it stayed until 2013. Numerous receipts for service work carried out with ‘Lorenzini Autosports’ in this period follows the car.
The Ferrari was then sold to Mr. Helbing in Germany when a comprehensive restoration on a healthy and running car was carried out with ‘Sportwagen im Bleiwerk’.
During the restoration, the original, lightly patinated tan leather interior was preserved. Everything else on the car was taken apart, rebuild and following a complete repaint in the original Azzurro Metallizzato (light blue metallic), everything was carefully refitted again. On file there are numerous photos from the restoration at various stages.
The result is a Ferrari 365GT 2+2 that is in perfect condition in every respect. One you would expect to find for sale a year after original delivery.
On entering the Ferrari you feel taken back in time. It is the interior for a Gentleman or Woman that understands the finer things in life. A luxurious leather interior with only the slightest, most subtle patina. The seating is relaxed yet with plenty of support for serious driving.
The leather covered door panels and the beautifully designed chrome door release finishes off the interior together with the wood rimmed Nardi steering wheel and large Veglia dials giving you a clear view of speed and revs.
The exterior of the car is also in immaculate condition, the panel gap is perfect everywhere and of course with no corrosion at all. All brightwork is equally immaculate with no corrosion or scratches.
What really sets this Ferrari 365GT 2+2 apart is the level of detailing throughout: interior, exterior and engine compartment. Clearly the restorer understood the importance of retaining as much originality as possible. The result is a beautiful, very driveable car in perfect condition and with a charm that is impossible to match. You will be hard pressed to find a better 365GT 2+2 anywhere.
In 2024 the Ferrari was sold to its current owner in Denmark and registered for the road on Danish (EU) registration documents. The odometer shows just 28.200km from new.
The original 365GT 2+2 Manual and Spare Parts Catalogue comes with the car together with numerous maintenance receipts from the early 2010s and a USB stick with 158 photos of the restoration in Germany in various stages.
Lastly several rally invites and newsletters from the early 1980s from the Ferrari Club of France, Belgium and Germany together with a few service records from Switzerland. They all help to tell a story of passionate owners that were devoted to this Ferrari.
The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 remains a sought-after classic, embodying the elegance and high performance of late-1960s Ferrari craftsmanship. This example is the perfect candidate to enlive that spirit.
