The car is a strong and credible candidate for ASI Targa Oro (Certificato d'Identita), the highest level of Italian historic vehicle recognition, which requires demonstrated originality and factory-specification conformity assessed by national commissioners. The 1965 model year sits within the most commercially desirable production window for the Karmann Cabriolet: post the 1964 refinements, before the later-model compression, and within the classic rounded body era that pre-dates the 1303 Super Beetle.
