Vintage and Prestige is proud to offer this spectacular example of Talbot Lago T26.
This is a very special Talbot-Lago T26 by Worblaufen. Only 3 were made and only two are believed to be in excistence. Built in 1947, delivered in Switzerland, where it stayed for most of its life. Then moved to the Netherlands where it underwent a very fastidious nut and bolt restoration at one of the best restores available. After the restoration the car took part in several prestigious events, like Pebble Beach, Villa d’Este, Schwetzlingen, Paleis ’t Loo The Netherlands and more.
The Swiss coachbuilder Fa. Ramseier & Cie of Worblaufen, one of the most highly regarded body builders in Switzerland built cars based on chassis of Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Isotta Fraschini & Talbot-Lago.
This Talbot-Lago T26 is a very exclusive car, of which only three were built. It’s just art on wheels.
Powered by the powerful six-cylinder in line, 4.5 litre, straight from the Grand Prix car of that time, although the road going engine has approximately 190 hp and is linked to a Wilson preselector 4 speed gearbox, Lockheed hydraulic drum brakes and knock-off wire wheels are just some of the special features of the T26.
The T26 was one of the fastest luxury cars on sale at the time.
In every respect, this Talbot Lago T26 Record by Worblaufen is the absolute top of what was available at the time. No less than 1600 hours went into the construction of one Worblaufen T26 and that is without the chassis, engine and other things that were ‘taken over’ from the normal T26 Record.
This T26 was delivered new in 1947 to its first owner in Zurich, a doctor. He enjoyed his special convertible for decades, until the exclusive car went to its second owner in the 1960s. The Talbot Lago only left Switzerland in 2003. It is during that period that the car is restored to unprecedented class by an exceptionally good restorer from the Netherlands. This high leveel of restoration made that a few years later the car took part in the prestigious Pebble Beach competition.
A full set of picture made during restoration are available with the car.
This T26 TAlbot Lago is truly stunning, the presence, the size, the lines, everything screams opulence in a very elegant manner. It's hard not to fall in love with such a beauty when it drives past you, silent and smooth as it should be.
The pre-selected gearbox makes it for a very relaxed and smooth drive, the engine, runs like asewing machine and pushes through the gears beautifully.
The car is located in the Netherlands, awaiting for a new owner to buy it and drive it away. EU taxes are paid and it can be imported in UK.
