Description
1935 Rolls Royce 20/25 Six Light by Rippon Bros.
Chassis number: GPG9
Registration number: UAS117
A beautifuly restored car that is a credit to its current owner/restorer. This car has had major works perfomed upon it culminating with an entry to the Douglas Wood Tropy at the Rolls Royce enthusiasts club. The restoration was done in 2004/5 by the current owner & the car has since seen regular but sparing use.
The car was found in a semi derelict condition & it has been a labor of love to bring it back to its current impeccable condition:
Engine: Fully stripped down & rebuilt including new pistons, little ends, rings, sludge traps etc etc. Complete head overhaul, pressure tested, with new valve seats fitted. Block descaled & 26 new copper tubes inserted. Modern oil filtration system fitted. Damper overhauled & set to factory poundage settings. Carb' overhauled & new jets fitted. Assorted parts enamelled for cosmetic appearance.
New Clutch fitted. Springs sent away to be re-tempered, new shackle pins & bushes fitted & new Wefco leather spring gaiters installed.
Wheels: Sand blasted & powder coated to body colour.
Axles: Front & rear stripped down & rebuilt. King pins hard Chromed & re-ground to suit. Front & rear brakes relined & re-cut with RR cutting tool.
Frame: Cleaned & repainted with new spare wheel brackets made up.
Steering: Overhauled.
Exhaust: New Stainless steel unit fabricated & fitted.
Electrics: Full re-wire undertaken.
One Shot lubrication: Overhauled as required.
The car has had a professional re-spray in Cream over Royal Blue with a hand applied pin stripe painted on. Assorted items were re-chromed as required. A new headlining was professionally fitted. New cream hide leather piped in blue was installed to all seating surfaces including the Rippon pivoting occasional seats. All woodwork has been beautifully re-veneered in figured walnut.
A large file of bills comes with the car attesting to the major expenditure undertaken. This is a car needing nothing that drives absolutely beautifully. The engine is powerful & silent, starting readily with good oil pressure etc. The car as a whole is in well above average condition & wants for nothing. It is ready for immediate extended use.
