It is 1993 when Porsche presents the new 911 at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, internally referred to as 993. For the first time, major changes have been made to the body, with the headlights lying flatter and more integrated into the design. The rear is also rounder and smoother. What the world does not yet know is that this series will go down in the books as the last air-cooled 911. This makes it not only one of the most beautiful 911s, but also the last chapter of an icon.

The 993 is a considerable step forward compared to the 964 in every respect. Optically more modern and with a new light-alloy subframe and new rear suspension, it is sportier and at the same time safer to drive than ever. The interior gets only marginal innovations, fortunately. The characteristic five large meters are therefore preserved in a classic way. The engine is an evolution of the 3.6 that could already be found in the predecessor. Initially, the 911 Carrera is 272 hp and later, thanks to VarioRam, even 285 hp.
As with its predecessor, you can choose a manual variant or the now well-known Tiptronic transmission. An automatic transmission that can also be operated manually with touch keys (or the gear lever).

That version is also the one we now offer in Brummen. Delivered new in Stuttgart in the much-loved silver grey Arctic Silber. If you're thinking 'I'd rather have a little more colour!' then you don't have to leave, as soon as you open the door you will understand why we say that. The first owner chose 'Silver over green', making for a great combination. The silver-grey paint already looks very bright, but in combination with the beautiful green leather interior, it makes for a car that appeals to the imagination. Do not think that only the seats and door panels are green, as is the case with many other cars: the leather-covered dashboard, headliner, carpet, steering wheel and everything you can see is green.
This car was delivered new in 1998, making it a late copy. In that year, the successor, the liquid-cooled 996, knocked on the door and the first owner probably thought: “Let me order a real 911 one more time, exactly as I want it.”
The car is cherished, you can see that in everything. The stickers in the booklet and under the boot lid are present, and stamps in the booklets are as well. The Carrera has great paint, with about 90% still the first. So no annoying damage history, as we unfortunately see too often with these types of cars.

The option list is extensive and we are happy to share it with you:
– 139: Seat heating, left
– 340: Seat heating, right
– 425: Rear window wiper
– 432: Tiptronic buttons for steering wheel
– 8-way electrical seats
– 573: Air conditioner
– 601: Litronic (xenon) headlights
– 659: Board computer
– 686: Becker Porsche CDR-21 CD radio
– 939: Pleated leather rear seats
– 982: Pleated leather front seats
– XMA: Leather rooflining
– XN9: Leather sun visors, make-up mirror illuminated
– X19: Leather covered dashboard trim, color to sample
– X26: Leather covered steering wheel airbag module

Once behind the wheel, it's fun all the way through. Not only is the execution beautiful, the condition also deserves the same term. The low mileage of 98,649 km translates into an impeccable interior. The leather is in great condition, all the controls not only look good, they clearly feel as they should on a low mileage car.
The Tiptronic is an automatic gearbox that can also be operated manually by means of a '+' and '–' on the gear lever. Initially not fully appreciated by purists, but now that these cars are being bought by enthusiasts who mainly want to experience the enjoyment of a 911 and who find the last few tenths in the sprint to 100 km/h less important, the Tiptronic wins with great strides to popularity.
Naturally, the Tiptronic responds quickly to instructions from the driver and the 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer feels alert. With the hefty load of power, the butt of the 993 pushes down on the throttle to see the nose rocket towards the horizon. The technology is in very good condition, the chassis and the brakes feel perfectly healthy.

You sometimes hear people say: 'My mind says this, but my feeling says that.' How nice it is to be able to say that feeling and reason can rarely agree so wholeheartedly when it comes to a Porsche 993: just do it!
