Description

In 1988 Jean Todd and his 90 Peugeot Talbot Sport staff were tasked with achieving homologation in the 1300cc Group A category. The required 5000 cars were built on a revised version of Peugeot's 205 1.6 GTI with a special power for weight distribution.

The new Peugeot 205 Rallye weighed just 794kg by omitting all sound deadening material, complex heating system, external electrics and fitting lightweight bumpers with revised front spoiler and wheel arches. The engine was a bored out 1124cc 205 X to 1294cc with a revised crankshaft, competition camshaft and 40 DCOM Webers, doubling its output from 53bhp to 102bhp. Its independent suspension was set up for a lower ride height via stiffer shock absorbers, coil over springs and custom lower wishbones. Braking was achieved via dual circuit servo assisted 270mm single pot caliper discs at the front with 180mm drums at the rear. The steering vmatches its high-revving engine that, with its 5-speed gearbox, made the car a full-blooded experience unlike any other production 205.

The offered Peugeot 205 Rallye was produced in 1989 for the European market and soon after registered to its first owner here in Denmark. It offers a fantastic original condition with all matching numbers with full service history.
