Description

The Morris Eight was a small family car with a production run from 1935 to 1948, and was the British marque's answer to Ford's Model Y. The visual similarities between the two cars are immediately obvious, and also extend to the underpinnings, with the engine being an almost direct copy of the Blue Oval's. The Eight was an immediate success, and enabled Morris to regain its position as Britain's largest motor manufacturer; it became Morris's best-selling car at the time, and the most popular British car of the late 1930s. The Series II came out in September 1937, with mainly cosmetic updates. Although only in production for one year before being replaced by the Series E model, a whopping 59,000 Series IIs were built.

This lovely example was purchased by our vendor in 2020 and despite its near 90-year history, it has reportedly only had five previous owners. It is presented in a gorgeous shade of green, with a complementary interior. In the last 18 months, our vendor has fitted a new battery and has advised us of a few electrical issues, which interested parties should note: the nearside front side light and indicators have stopped working, which our vendor believes is possibly due to a wiring fault. These aside, the car runs and drives smoothly, best paired with a series of winding lanes, or on a countryside rally. Consigned by Charlie McCreery
