Description

Just around 3,500 miles, original factory condition – a rare market opportunity

✨ Highlights

This 1992 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 is a true collector’s gem, rarely found on the market: With documented mileage of under 3,500 miles, this coupe is virtually as-new. Owned by a single family in the United Kingdom since new, the car has been carefully preserved throughout its life. Finished in classic white with a black leather interior, the car remains in completely original, factory-standard condition—no modifications, no aftermarket parts. The highly desirable 300 hp VR-4 engine makes this Mitsubishi one of the fastest and most sought-after Japanese coupes of its era, even considered superior to the Honda NSX by some experts.

🏛️ Vehicle Overview / Model History

The Mitsubishi 3000 GT, also known as the GTO in some markets, was introduced in the early 1990s as the brand’s technological flagship. The VR-4 top version featured advanced all-wheel drive, active aerodynamics, adaptive suspension, and a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, setting new standards among Japanese high-tech sports cars. With 300 hp, electronically controlled all-wheel drive, and numerous innovations, the 3000 GT challenged established rivals with its unique driving feel, technical superiority, and luxurious equipment. Well-preserved, unmodified examples with such low mileage are now extremely rare and highly desirable among collectors worldwide.

This Vehicle

Exterior

The coupe is finished in contemporary white—reportedly the original paint—with original wheels and all factory features intact. Bodywork, paint, and trim are in outstanding condition, just as one would expect from a car with such low mileage. There are no known signs of repainting, damage, or modifications.

Interior

The black leather interior looks virtually new. Seats, trims, and instruments show almost no use; all features and controls function as intended. No aftermarket modifications or notable signs of wear are apparent anywhere inside.

Mechanicals

The 3.0-liter VR-4 engine with twin turbocharging and all-wheel drive remains completely standard and unmodified. According to the seller, all maintenance was carried out regularly and meticulously. The car is free of modifications or tuning—an absolute rarity among 1990s Japanese sports coupes. The engine runs smoothly, and the transmission and suspension function flawlessly.

History

The Mitsubishi 3000 GT was first registered in the UK to a single family and has remained in their ownership to this day. The extremely low mileage of around 3,500 miles is fully documented. No previous owners are known; the car has been preserved primarily as a collector’s piece. According to the seller, original documentation and evidence of service are present, but potential buyers are encouraged to review all documents in detail.

Service / Documents

According to the seller, original service records and documentation verifying the mileage and maintenance history are included. Additional documents—such as appraisals, invoices, or heritage certificates—can be viewed upon request. Prospective buyers are advised to inspect all documentation in person.

Summary / Conclusion

A Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 in this state of preservation and with such low mileage is a true rarity. The outstanding original condition, full family ownership, and desirable 300 hp specification make this car one of the most attractive offerings among Japanese youngtimers. For collectors, enthusiasts of Japanese sports cars, and investors, this is a unique opportunity to acquire one of the last “new” cars of this kind.

Comment / Personal Impression

To drive or own a 3000 GT VR-4 in this condition is to hold a piece of Japanese engineering history. For me, it’s the combination of technical excellence, iconic design, and the aura of an “untouched” car that makes this example so special. You’ll rarely come closer to a brand-new 1992 vehicle than with this Mitsubishi.

Add history: Originally built for the American market, the car was first delivered to the United States. There it was acquired by an English collector, who added it to his private collection and had it shipped to the UK. The car remained part of this collection until 2005. Following the collector’s passing, ownership transferred to his family, who exercised the vehicle only occasionally. In 2015, the car was sold to the current owner in Norway. Since then, the vehicle has not been used and has not been started. Prior to recommissioning, it is strongly recommended that all fluids be replaced and that a timing belt service be carried out, ensuring the car is properly prepared for its next chapter.
